NABMA President Elect, Cllr Geraldine Carter attended the launch of The Great British High Street Awards 2018 in London on Wednesday 20th June. The competition is run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government. Sponsored by Visa and backed by other partners this is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate local achievements on our high streets in supporting the communities in which we live and work.
Winners will be named in England, Scotland, Wales and – for the first time – Northern Ireland, across two categories: the Champion and Rising Star awards. An overall winner will also be named.
It was announced at today’s launch that author and TV presenter Simon Reeve will be a judge for the Great British High Street Awards 2018.
NABMA Chief Executive Officer, Graham Wilson said, ‘The Great British High Street Competition provides an opportunity to showcase best practice and innovation. It also provides an opportunity to recognise those people who are an inspiration to their High Street. I would encourage everyone to support this competition which will show that High Streets around the country still have much to offer.’
Retailers and local authorities can enter the Awards on behalf of their high street via the Great British High Street website.
