As the NABMA Annual Conference gets closer NABMA have now released the full Conference Brochure highlighting the programme and other activities. With a record attendance already assured this promises to be a great event. The last few day delegate places are still available.
A diverse and fascinating line up of presentations and workshops is planned for this year’s annual conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Stratford Upon Avon as we look at the importance of markets in shaping places as tourism destinations and as assets to local communities.
The ATCM’s Place Management Conference on 17th April 2018 focused on violence and vulnerability in towns and city centres. NABMA’s Peter Turvey attended on behalf of the organisation and provided these notes from the presentations.

This year the theme builds on the substantial work programme from Mission for Markets, shared by NABMA and NMTF, and the research and feedback that was generated. The work challenged operators to evaluate the way that they are running their markets, to audit the skills available to them, and establish a vision for the future. What skills and tools will make the successful market, manager and trader of the future? We will examine good practice and discuss the resources needed to professionalise markets to make them attractive, competitive and sustainable into the future.
Our draft programme includes sessions around introducing and retaining young people in markets; new partnerships; market management of the future; the influence of architecture to markets present and future and how we measure performance to enable us to make the big decisions.
