Families are invited to join a special Diwali lantern decorating workshop at Bradford’s Darley Street Market on Saturday 18 October, celebrating the Festival of Lights with creativity and colour.
The free workshop for children, led by local artists Rosie McAndrew and Phoebe Clark-Evans, will take place in the market’s Courtyard from 11am to 3pm. Young participants can decorate their own lanterns using paints, stickers and LED lights — all materials are provided — and take their finished creations home.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said:
“Since opening in July, Darley Street Market has hosted a fantastic range of events, all well supported by shoppers. It’s great to see activities like this bringing creativity and community together.”
Artist Rosie McAndrew added:
“This workshop is a wonderful, free opportunity for families to get creative together — to experiment with materials and light up their homes with their artwork.”
Although the event is free, booking is recommended as places are limited to 90 lanterns.
