Counter Service Food in Markets

Having studied and taken advice on the latest updates from Government regarding changes to Food & Beverage service, the guidance states the following:

“In licensed premises, food and drink must be ordered from, and served at, a table.

“Customers must eat and drink at a table in any premises selling food and drink to consume indoors, on site (from 24 September).”

In many market situations, the customer orders from a counter and then either eats at a table or offsite. Our understanding is that, unless you are licensed, then customers can still order at a counter and either consume the food & drink at a table or off site. The new rules only have an impact if the outlet is licensed.
