Ely Farmers’ Market Celebrates 25 Years at the Heart of the Community

Launched in 2000, the Farmers’ Market was part of a growing national movement to support small producers and reconnect communities with fresh, local food. Over the past quarter-century, it has provided an essential platform for farmers, smallholders, and independent producers to sell directly to customers in the heart of Ely — continuing a local trading heritage that spans more than 800 years.

Julia Davis from Ely Markets said:

“We’re proud of everyone who has been part of our journey over the last two decades. Much has changed, but our core values of quality, value, and sustainability remain as important as ever.”

Ely Farmers’ Market is part of the wider Ely Markets family, which runs a thriving programme throughout the week:

  • Craft, Food & Vintage Market (Saturdays): Unique produce, handmade crafts, vintage treasures, and an exceptional range of street food.
  • Thursday Charter Market: A bustling weekly market offering everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to clothing, household goods, and artisan produce.
  • Sunday Market: A relaxed mix of artisan food, crafts, gifts, and vintage finds — ideal for a leisurely weekend browse.

As the festive season approaches, Ely Markets will also host its much-loved Christmas Markets, bringing seasonal cheer, local creativity, and a magical mix of food, crafts, and gifts to the Market Place.
