Love Your Local Market 2021

A number of questions have been asked about the Love Your Local Market campaign that has taken place each May and has been promoted by NABMA over the last decade. It is now an annual campaign in nearby 30 different countries.

Sadly, due to Covid-19, we had no option other than to postpone the 2021 event as it was impossible to plan ahead with the uncertainty around lock downs, social distancing etc.
We have been in regular contact with our colleagues in the retail group of WUWM ( the World Union of Wholesale Markets) and each country has sensibly taken the same approach.

Our hope however, with international partners, is to promote a Love Your Local Market event at the beginning of October. This will link with the WUWM participation in the United Nations International Year of Fruit and Vegetables that aims to promote food nutrition, food security, healthy living etc but with the planned additions of shop local and support your local market.

Talks are scheduled to continue this month and we will provide further updates. The October proposals will fit well with our planned Annual Conference.

NABMA is rightly proud of Love Your Local Market that was our original initiative and is now celebrated worldwide. It will remain a flagship event in our annual calendar as a wonderful way to promote the widest benefits of markets and to continue to encourage young traders and start up businesses into our industry.
