As markets across the UK celebrate the annual “Love Your Local Market” campaign, NABMA (The National Association of British Market Authorities) was thrilled to receive endorsement and recognition of the value of local markets from the heart of Westminster and the Prime Minister himself.
Simon Baynes MP, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Markets Group, talked markets and the “Love Your Local Market” campaign with the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson MP at a Downing Street meeting this week.
Following the meeting, Simon Baynes MP said: “The Prime Minister was delighted to extend his support to NABMA and the markets’ industry this week as it celebrates Love Your Local Market, particularly recognising the important role that markets can play in supporting the various government agendas for the regeneration of high streets and communities”.
NABMA Chief Executive, David Preston said: “What tremendous endorsement and recognition from the Prime Minister for NABMA, as the creator & promoter of Love Your Local Market, and markets, their teams and traders across the UK. Year on year, the appreciation of the value of markets increases and never more so than during Love Your Local Market 2022, recognising the huge contribution that markets have made to their communities during the hardships of the pandemic. NABMA is grateful to Simon Baynes MP for securing this wonderful endorsement for the markets across the UK.”
The Love Your Local Market campaign, now in its 11th year, was created and is promoted by NABMA. The campaign sees markets celebrate in a range of ways, including additional events, promotions and start-up trader offers. Now celebrated across the world in more than 24 countries, this year’s campaign runs until 5th June 2022, as markets also join in the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The campaign reaches millions of people through social media every year. #LYLM2022
