St Albans Markets, one of the oldest markets in England, is seeking a Markets Officer to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day operations and future development of this historic market.

The Role

The Markets Officer will support market traders, oversee smooth operations on market days, and contribute to new initiatives that enhance the market experience. With 140 market events each year, this role offers variety, hands-on involvement, and the chance to shape the future of St Albans Markets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting new and existing traders
  • Ensuring efficient market operations
  • Leading projects to improve market activities
  • Working market days, including Saturdays and some Sundays

Who They’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will have:

  • An understanding of the role of markets in city centre regeneration
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • The ability to manage competing demands and customer interactions professionally
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and general administrative tasks

  • Salary: £31,773 – £34,072 per annum
  • Local Government Pension Scheme with up to 19.7% employer contributions
