NABMA and the Love Your Local Market Campaign announces new partnership with Visa

Now in its eighth year, NABMA’s Love Your Local Market campaign launches this week with two weeks of celebration of markets across the UK. From small community and parish markets through to city centre landmarks that have been at the heart of communities, towns and our high streets for hundreds of years.

As we embark on another exciting campaign, NABMA is delighted to announce Visa as a new sponsor for Love Your Local Market.

With high street transformation at the top of the agenda, Visa has committed to support the Love Your Local Market campaign, recognising a market’s key position at the centre of communities and our evolving high streets.

Geraldine Carter, President of NABMA, said, “We are thrilled that Visa has chosen to be a sponsor of the Love Your Local Market campaign. The campaign, which has now been embraced by 24 countries worldwide, has given thousands of people the opportunity to sample market trading and, in the UK alone, we estimate has helped to create over 1,000 new businesses.

“We are looking forward to working in partnership with VISA and seeing a wide range of young entrepreneur schemes, new trading opportunities, imaginative events and a host of offers and incentives across the UK. I would encourage everyone to rediscover their local market and celebrate small businesses at the heart of our communities.

“Our new partnership with Visa also recognises the importance of the campaign and its potential for the future.”

Sundeep Kaur, Head of UK & Ireland Merchant & Acquiring for Visa, said, “We are really proud to be supporting NABMA’s Love Your Local Market campaign. We recognise that the most successful high streets offer a unique experience that people cannot get anywhere else, and local markets can often be the key ingredient to this success.

“Visa is committed to helping local markets and high streets find ways to adapt and innovate, thus ensuring that they can continue to thrive both now and into the future.

“The high street is the life and soul of communities across the UK, and is crucial in creating jobs, nurturing small businesses and driving local and regional economies.”

Love Your Local Market was started by NABMA and since then, other countries have seen the success of the campaign and wanted to join in the celebrations, culminating in 24 countries taking part last year.

The theme for the Love Your Local Market campaign this year is “Markets – Close to your Heart”. The campaign runs from Friday 17th May to Friday 31st May 2019 and hundreds of markets across the UK will be taking part.
