On the basis of some questions raised within Basecamp, and with NABMA, we have taken some guidance from a NABMA insurance sponsor on rental loss cover. That confirms that:
“The advice we can give to all NABMA members – whether they are Council run or Private Market Operators – is that most insurance policies, under their Business Interruption cover, are based on a specified list of diseases. This has been in place since the SARS outbreak in 2003. Therefore, we recommend they check their individual policies for the list of diseases, just in case. The policy would also need to have a Public Authority extension, which covers government ordered closures (subject to policy terms and conditions of the policy).”
