All Party Parliamentary Local Markets Group

The All-Party Parliamentary Local Markets Group met at Westminster on Wednesday 21st January 2026, bringing together Members of Parliament and representatives from across the markets industry to discuss the role of markets in supporting economic growth, entrepreneurship and community resilience.

The meeting focused on preparations for the House of Commons Terrace Reception, showcasing Love Your Local Market and the National Young Traders Market, alongside discussions on regional market partnerships and opportunities to strengthen the recognition of markets within future Government legislation. Members also reaffirmed their support for encouraging young entrepreneurs and promoting local markets across their constituencies.

The Group agreed to write to the Business and Trade Committee and the Department for Business and Trade to seek greater recognition of markets within forthcoming legislation, reinforcing the important role markets play in local economic growth and community development.
