We are seeking an individual to take a lead in delivering Markets projects and be the markets representative on any large scale projects.  The projects will be wide ranging from quite large scale infrastructure projects to more people focused such as trader training programmes. All the projects feed into the 2022-2027 Tower Hamlets Market Action Plans both for individual Markets and across the Borough’s ten Street Markets.

Harborough District Council is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the Harborough Markets and Events Team as a Market Officer, acting as first point of contact for Market traders and overseeing all activities related to running the indoor market.

Reporting to the Market and Events Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Harborough Indoor and Farmers Market with duties including stall bookings, allocations and layouts, rent collections and reconciliation, and updating the market social media channels.

The successful candidate will also support the delivery of a calendar of District-wide events. We deliver numerous events including the award-winning Market Harborough Food and Drink Festival, Holistic Harborough, and the BIG Weekend as part of the Leicester Comedy Festival, so the post holder has the opportunity to take in part in some fantastic projects.

You will be enthusiastic and customer-focused and confident with MS Office Suite. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and ideally have a markets or facilities background.

The job is a full time post working Tuesday – Sunday on a two week rota. You will need to be willing to work flexible hours to cover service needs including unsocial hours, weekends and bank holidays. The role requires some outside working, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.

A basic level Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement of this post

This post will be primarily based at Harborough Indoor Market, Market Harborough.
