Shrewsbury Town Council are looking for a Commercial, Markets and Events Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic development of Shrewsbury Town Council’s sports and recreational facilities, large events, fishing rights and markets.

The successful applicant will assist in the delivery of special events and promotions, to be the Designated Premises Supervisor for any areas of responsibility and be the first point of contact for any such licensed events.  This role will also take responsibility for exploring commercial activity for the Town Council Ensuring in line with our strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum five years’ experience (at supervisory level) in the provision and operation of sports, leisure and recreational facilities and appropriate professional qualifications.

Market Operative Position Northwich/Winsford – Salary £22,366 – £23,114 – 37 hrs pwk

Job Summary

The Market Operative role is responsible for the general cleanliness and security of Council markets, ensuring the day to day operations are carried out to support a trading environment for tenants. Duties to include general cleanliness and upkeep of the building, to liaise with contractors, support traders and members of the public. 

The position requires flexibility to be able to work across Cheshire West and Chester Markets on an adhoc basis.

Job Role

Cheshire West and Chester Council have a great opportunity for the right candidate to join the markets team.

The role will be responsible for general cleaning and keyholder duties in opening and closing the market, along with all aspects of the day to day operations required in providing a trading environment for tenants. The role offers a full time vacancy for a Market Operative to work across Winsford and Northwich Markets. 

The candidate must be flexible to work on a rota basis to include working 5 days of the week, provide support working across Cheshire West sites on an adhoc basis, where required.

Experience of working in a team is desirable although we welcome candidates with a proactive approach to working autonomously. 

Experience in a customer service role is advantageous to assist traders and members of the public, and a working knowledge of health and safety practices is desirable.

Job Summary

The Duty officer role is responsible for the daily coordination of Cheshire West and Chester Markets. 

To be involved and work closely with the market management team to maintain a vibrant trading and business environment. To undertake any associated duties with the operations of sites and to supervise and coordinate the duties of the market staff and liaison between traders and management. To assist in the occupancy of new businesses and market growth through customer service and sales.

Job Role

Cheshire West and Chester Council have two fantastic opportunities for the right candidates to join Ellesmere Port Market in an exciting time which involves reimagining the market and facilities.

The role will be responsible for the daily operations of the market, to supervise staff in maintaining a safe working environment, and to be the initial point of contact for traders and members of the public along with administration duties in keeping in line with policies and procedures. 

The candidates must be flexible to work weekends on a rota basis 5 days a week and evenings on an ad hoc basis. The roles are permanent positions and provide great opportunities in supporting event management and new starter businesses in a modern working environment with new facilities. The position will support the market team and may require working across Cheshire West and Chester market sites on an ad hoc basis. 

Experience of supervising a team is desirable although we welcome candidates with an initiative-taking approach to working methods. A passion in delivering great customer service is advantageous in supporting the service delivery of the market and assisting traders and members of the public. A working knowledge of health & safety practices along with resource planning is desirable.
