General Manager Role at Billingsgate Market

The City of London Corporation is currently recruiting for the role of General Manager at Billingsgate Market, one of London’s most historic and renowned markets. This full-time permanent position offers a competitive salary ranging from £72,390 to £82,160, including London Weighting, with a pending pay award.

The General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Billingsgate Market, ensuring its smooth running through effective management of multiple teams. Key responsibilities include maintaining the market’s upkeep, overseeing security, and representing the City of London at industry events. The successful candidate will be expected to foster a collaborative team culture and drive continuous improvements across operations.

The role is ideally suited to candidates with a background in security or safety management, strong team leadership experience, and knowledge of risk management, health & safety, and food hygiene regulations. Membership of a relevant professional institute would be advantageous.
