“Real Deal and Its Importance to Your Market and Your Community”
A highly practical and interactive session designed to provide market operators with essential information to deter rogue traders and keep your market fake-free.
Introduction by NABMA
Session One: Matthew Knowles
In the first part of the seminar, Matthew Knowles will provide an overview of IP crime, relevant legislation, and the role of trading standards in protecting your market, shoppers, traders, and the local community.
He will explain how the organised criminal networks involved in the global trade in fake goods are connected to other forms of criminality, including stolen goods and other illicit products that—without appropriate preventative measures—can find their way onto UK markets.
Using examples of counterfeit items seized in the UK, he will highlight serious safety hazards and share tips to equip market staff with practical know-how on how to spot a fake.
Session Two: Patricia Lennon
Patricia Lennon will explain how the Real Deal Campaign offers practical guidance, solutions, and resources to market operators to help deter rogue traders.
