Category winners last year will not be eligible to enter the same category for 2026.

Nominations for Best Speciality Market & Best Market Attraction are open until midnight on Friday 2nd January 2026 to allow for Christmas Market entries.

The Great British Market Awards and Britain’s Favourite Market are organised and awarded by NABMA and the awards are sponsored by Market Place.

2026 Market Place UK Great British Market Awards Criteria

Please provide information to support your application. The below is just a guide of what you may wish to tell us.

  • Initiatives and successes in retaining and attracting new traders
  • Providing evidence of new business startups and their sustainability
  • The added value of how the market supports the local town, city centre or local community
  • If available, provide evidence of footfall
  • Tell us about your marketing and publicity campaigns with examples of successes
  • How you engage with young people and encourage young entrepreneurship
  • Successful partnerships and funding bids
  • Good practice in promoting relationships between operator and traders
  • Anything else that makes you market stand out
