🚨 COVID RESTRICTIONS IN MARKETS

You will be acutely aware that the government issued further Covid restrictions last night and clearly this is very disappointing in terms of what is often the busiest time of the year for Markets. Having issued further guidance yesterday, following advice from the Cabinet Office, I do not see anything specific in the new restrictions that changes anything that I said yesterday. Clearly there are new restrictions on large scale events and some of these restrictions apply to outdoor events but, at this moment, I do not see anything that affects outdoor Markets. I am enquiring of government whether there is anything else that is specific to Markets that we need to be aware of but until I receive any further information please proceed on the basis of the guidance issued yesterday.David

🚨 COVID RESTRICTIONS IN MARKETS

Following the recent advice provided by NABMA, following the introduction of further Covid restrictions, I enclose more detailed advice received from government. The advice is very much in line with the advice provided by NABMA. “The advice below from the Cabinet Office sets out the position on face coverings in markets and food courts:  Customers are required by law to wear a face covering in indoor shopping centres and markets. Staff must also wear a face covering in areas which are open to the public.Face coverings are not required in outdoor markets. However, some market stalls may be considered to be indoors, in which case staff working within these market stalls are required to wear a face covering when they are in contact with customers, as will any customers who enter the market stall. Face coverings are not required in hospitality areas within an indoor shopping centre or market, for example in cafes or restaurants, or in any other areas which are mainly used for eating and drinking, including food courts. Face coverings are required in takeaways which have no space for consuming food or drink. Guidance is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own” If you have any further concerns please get in touch.
