Market Investment

With Future High Street, Towns Funds, Heritage Action Zones and Levelling up there is an immense amount of grant funding about which is distributed by the Government.I am curious to discover how many markets are benefiting from these streams of investment into our local areas?

Food Safety training – question from conference

Good morning all, so great to meet lots of you in person yesterday! It was really useful to be able to chat and answer some of your questions about food safety, but one in particular kept coming up, so I thought it might be useful to pop it in here.A number of you asked about the expiry periods of Level 2 and Level 3 food hygiene certificates. According to law, food business operators must ensure that food handlers receive the appropriate supervision and training in food hygiene, which is in-line with the area they work in and will enable them to handle food in the safest way. There is no LEGAL requirement to renew within a specified time period. We would RECOMMEND that certificate holders renew their training every three years, to keep up with changes in best practice and legislation, and we send reminders to our learners to this effect. An EHO will be interested to understand how a food business ensures its staff’s training is refreshed and current . However, food hygiene certificates do not have an enforceable ‘expiration date’ (although these can be employed as a sales tactic by some training companies!)Hope this helps – happy to elaborate further if needed.Clarewww.thesaferfoodgroup.com

✅ GOVERNMENT LEVELLING UP WHITE PAPER BULLETIN

The government has published its long awaited White Paper on Levelling Up. It includes twelve separate “Missions” to improve the environments and living standards of many parts of the country.  Much of the focus of the White Paper is on devolution and building on the Regional Authorities and Mayors that already exist so in the next ten years we might see significant changes to the structure of local authorities and how powers are discharged. The government is keen to improve town centres with sixty eight additional local authorities benefitting from support from the High Street Task Force. This is one specific area where Markets can look to secure extra resources. The link to the White Paper is as follows: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/levelling-up-the-united-kingdom
