Help with Power Management

Moring, we are in the process of having our Market Square redeveloped later this year, we are in consultation with the developers, a comment has been mentioned regarding power for the development with a company called Ubertricity, they provide a pay by use service for people using power points in light columns to charge electric vehicles. It operates on the basis that a user sets up their own account with Ubertricity who then provide a cable, plug, and meter, for attaching to a charge point and the user is then billed individually for whatever they use. Apparently, this is also starting to be adapted for use by councils as a means for traders to manage their own power use for markets rather than the council managing it for them, is this something worth considering, does anyone currently use this as a means delivering power etc. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated?

✅ MARKET POWERS

NABMA is receiving a number of enquiries, particularly from Local Councils, about clarifying the market powers enjoyed by our local authority members. The following examples, received during the past fortnight, illustrate the nature of the enquiries we are receiving:We have a Royal Charter but we cannot find out what it says. How do we know it covers our Market? Our Charter says the Market is to be held on a Tuesday but our Market is on a Saturday. Can we still use the Charter? We want to hold additional Market days. How do we do this?It is important that all local authorities are clear about their market powers particularly if they want to use their market powers to support a markets licensing policy. NABMA can assist and ensure that you have a clear statement of the extent and nature of your market powers. This is particularly important for Local Councils who might operate within the area of a District or Unitary authority who also exercise market powers.Normally we can provide this service free of charge as part of our membership package but if research and additional work are required, such as drafting a report to Council, or dealing with the introduction of a market licensing policy, then a charge will have to be applied but this charge is likely to be no more than £500.If you would like help from NABMA please contact Graham Wilson, NABMA Legal and Policy Consultant, at gwilsonconsultant@icloud.com, or telephone 07967276882
